What's your preference?

disclaimer: i've already done some research. however, since i am not an electronics guru...yet, i will still appreciate any input y'all can give.

i'm looking for an entertainment system. 32"+ TV, speakers, receiver, and dvd player.
i'm not looking for THE BEST system out there. just something that won't break after a few months. so just want something reliable for a "reasonable" price. i have checked on HiFi.com, amazon.com, buy.com, 800.com, and a few others. however, they all seem the same. can anyone give some advice to help?

1) price range:
TV = ~$1000
speakers = ?
receiver = ~$200-300
dvd player = ~$200
(please remember, nothing too special. this is a for someone who won't know what's the difference btw 50W vs 150W. so more is not necessarily better in this case.)

2) shipping/customer service. any of the above mentioned i should take note of?

3) name brand. sooo many brands out there, what should i be looking for? What's your preference?

4) should i purchase each equip separately? or as a package for convenience/price (are there any one out there?)

thanks to all who help, in advance.

I have the Pioneer BSD608, I really like it. It's got DTS and Dolby digital support with all S-Video inputs as well as RCA. It didn't cost an arm and a leg either.

As far as a TV, I think the flatter the screen the better.

I recommend the APEX DVD player with the Loophole menu feature. I don't know where these are still available. AD-600A Maybe someone will tell us what manufacture dates it has to be for the loophole. This DVD player will play all region codes and MP3s and you can turn off macrovision (copy protection).
