I think All Advantage is Upset

No GC for me

Anyone else get this???

Dear Online Survey Respondent,

Over the weekend, questions.net conducted a survey exclusively for a private
membership audience, All Advantage members who had clicked on a specific
AllAdvantage banner. Unfortunately, the URL of our survey was deceptively taken
and published on various "freebie" sites. Also published were the directions
for erroneously answering the questions in order to receive a $5.00 gift
certificate.

As a result, we need to verify that you were an active AllAdvantage member prior
to Friday, July 14, 2000 and that you clicked the AllAdvantage banner to take
our survey. Here is what you will need to do:

Please click on the link below and provide us with this email address and your
AllAdvantage member identification. After doing so, we will match your ID with
AllAdvantage records during that time. Once verified we will send you one gift
certificate by July 31st.

We need to hear back from you by Monday, July 24th.

We sincerely apologize to the AllAdvantage members for this additional step and
we truly appreciate your participation in the survey and your cooperation with
rectifying this problem.

To those of you who came to our survey site through a freebie site or a freebie
email distribution list, we are sorry that you were misled to believe you would
receive a $5.00 gift certificate. Information provided by such freebie services
may not be accurate and in same cases, as in this one, may be deceptive.

Thank you,
Questions.net

freewwweb free isp now gone!!!

freewwweb's free isp in now gone and is now taken over by Juno (juss like Worldspy). well my best free isp with no banner popups is finally gone. what do i use now? right now i'm usin netzero w/ banner patch but i keep gettin disconnected every 10 mins or so. i'm lookin for a free dialup isp wit no banners or a work around to bypass the banners. I heard worldshare.net is good but i can't sign up coz it wants u to donate a small fee. i read on an earlier post that the fee was not needed but i can't get past it.

Really?? freewwweb got eaten up?? Who didn't tell me? I'm using them right now to post this message.

OK, now I just visited freewwweb's home page and they did get taken over by Juno. I guess that leaves me with netzero. That sucks... Anybody know if Juno is just buying up all of the competition or if all the competition is just going broke???
__________________
I think they're all going broke. I'm playing musical ISP's right now. Just about the time I get settled in to one, it gets eaten up by Juno. Now I am using One Nation on-line. They seem to be okay for now but I only signed up today. I wonder how long until they fall victim to the Juno Monster.
__________________
just wondering... what is wrong with Juno?
I use to use the email servies and now have sometimes use the free web service also but not anymore since i got cable now. but Juno seems fine.
__________________
I had a pretty annoying problem with them, but I couldn't remember what it was...something like it kept trying to sell me stuff, and making me update this and that...and I don't mean banner ads, which are annoying, but I live.
I'm currently using the Simpson's one, I don't remember who offers it, but it's alright, never busy signals, and the connections speeds are ok, downright good once and a while.
__________________
I do enjoy using the simpsons one. Mr. Burns is the icon
__________________
Juno is bad because it is the AOL of free ISPs It forces you to keep its main screen active (using memory,) makes you close advertisements before you can sign on, and seems to have a terribly slow server system.

I looked around for a while to replace Freewwweb and found Freeatlast.com. So far I have no banner, nor have I been hassled to buy anything. It has a 1.6 mb file to download so that took a while fighting the popups and banner slag on freeInternet.com but I got it running now.

Freeatlast actually seems to load sites faster than freewwweb and definatly faster than JUNO. Pthooohey (juno)

I think with a lot of new users who come in and really don't know how to post requests and such in the deals forum except by experience, there should be a page initially to tell them what the rules for posting are. I remember Apex posting some rules a few weeks back, that could be used if thats possible.

Does Apex still even work here? I guess he's still on the honeymoon tip, but I've only seen Leon post in the last week or so.
It'd be nice to see some rules, but I think for the time being we're gonna be on our own, *politely* askin' new folks to abide by rules...yeah, doin' that four times a day.

I think also part of the problem might be that ppl don't know the other pages are in existance. Nor do they think attention can be drawn from other places.

Anyone know that site that buys used cd's?

Remember that little WhatsHotNow.com "trick" a couple months ago? Well...I placed some orders last december, and I just got a box in today with six audio cd's...now, they're pretty old, and most I just ordered for the hell of it (i'm keeping jay-z vol.2, "can i get a..." is an awesome song). Anyway, I remember signing up for a site that buys your old audio cd's and gives you credit towards other cd's, anyone know it?

__________________
One place where you can trade in your old cd's is www.swapit.com

I signed up and got $10 credit a while back. It's actually not as cheap as I thought it would be because they charge $2 for each cd transaction, plus shipping.
__________________
Really? That sucks...guess i'll just pile up all these cd's and all cd's I don't want and sell em on eBay, it'll probably be a lot easier.

Try selling them on Half.com. If they're in good condition you might be able to get some good money on them. Half.com only charges 15% commission and they reimburse you for book rate shipping.

Experience with cars.

Hey, do any of you guys drive american cars? I'm thinking about getting a Chevy Impala but a little hesitant cuz its american. Our last american car is gonna fall apart in a year, its an 89 sundance. So whats your experience with cars? All types cuz i need a reference to go by. And please list the year and model as a reference.

Great, so how much is shipping?

__________________
Well, I'd be hesitant to go by your experience: the sundance was never regarded as a great example of American workmanship OK, I've mostly driven American. My experience with Chevy was quite good: '96 Chevy Tahoe. Mechanically, pretty much flawless. The only problem I had was a worn parking brake which was fixed under warrenty. Superficially, terrific paint and materials. A few things broke, mostly just pieces snapping as opposed to being poorly designed: a cover of some sort in the passenger footwell, and the driver's seat became a little loose after two years. I am pretty sure all were resolved under warrenty. Additionally, I know my service turnaround times and dealer support were the envy of my friends, all of whom drove imports (BMWs, Toyotas and Hondas.)
Other American: '99 Ford Expedition. Despite gimmicky interior (adjustable pedals? you gotta be kidding me) it was pretty well put together, felt very solid, no problems in one year of use.
'99 Dodge Durango: VERY solid. HAve had no problems whatsoever except for a mysterious engine noise that turned out to just be an industrial stength cooling system for a gigantic engine (5.9L).

In all, and this post is getting really really long now, we've been much happier with our American cars than our imports. My father just got an ML 55, and while it is certainly an impressive specimen, we feel the American's make a more substantial-feeling car. The operative word is "meaty": you really feel like the American cars will deal well with the abuse you dish out on a daily basis, while you feel like you have to treat some of the imports with kid gloves. Hope that helps.
__________________
For the most part I dont think American cars have any more problem than forign cars. Sure there are crappy american cars, but there are forign cars that arnt exactly of the highest quality either. You just have to be looking at two equivalent cars. You can't compare a Porsche to some ford POS and expect them to be the same. If you look at the porsche and maybe a cobra then they become more equal. Impalas arnt some little S**tbox that lose parts while driving down the road. I wouldnt think that you would have many problems with a car of that caliber. Also keep in mind that the price of fixing an American car is often cheaper than fixing a forign car. (I am sure this isnt true for all forign cars but it many cases this holds.) I wouldn't let the fact that the Chevy is an american car hold you back. If Chevy consistantly made pieces of crap they wouldnt have stayed in buisness for so long.

Excellent point. I think much of the perception of American metal being crap stemmed from the very positive perception of Japanese cars from the mid 80's. The mindset was, if Japanese cars are really well made/reliable, then American cars must be the opposite. That simply isn't true, and really never was. Sure, they weren't on par with the Europeans or the Japanese, but they are now, and I'd wager to say they've passed them. Even clunky old Chrysler has gotten its sh!t together; I truly think there has been a lot of positive benefit from that DamilerChrysler merger. In fact, I've heard rumblings from everyone I know that's bought a Japanese car in the last year and a half that they aren't getting what they paid for at all, that the price difference between an import and an American car cannot be reconciled, even if the American car was as bad as their reputation.

Any Paintpall Gurus?

Yup.. Going to another Bachelor's party, and it's gonna be paintballin'. I know Jack about it, so I've been reading up on some stuff. It seems like the best bang for the buck is the Rainmaker.

I want to stay within that price range... Or should I just rent. I'll probably buy the mask because people tell me the rental ones are gross.

__________________
Paintballing's fun, but be sure to prepare yourself for a world of hurt. The most important piece of equipment that people tend to overlook is the "CUP," or "JOCKSTRAP." Wear one, please. I shot some guy in the nuts once and he dropped to the floor writhing in pain. Oh...and keep your mouth closed if you see a pellet flying towards your face. The mask will stop the impact, but you'll get a good amount of splash damage. Have fun, man! It's a great experience.
__________________
If this is your first time paintballing, then don't buy a marker (paintball gun) yet. If you wanna shell out for something, shell out for a good pair of mask and cup. Maybe even some good kneepads. Make sure that the masks you buy have thermal lenses. They prevent your lens from fogging up. I would recommend the JT Spectra goggle/mask (with thermal lenses). Any cup will do, any comfortable kneepads will do.
Although you might not get the best and prettiest marker when you rent, i assume that everyone else on the bachelor party will be using rental markers. A majority of rental paintball guns are made by Spyder. They are a very dependable semiauto marker with great potential for upgradeability. I would recommend this as good starter gun. Play paintball for atleast 2 more times after this party with rental gun and see if it is something that you'll like. It is a fairly expensive hobby/recreation to get into.
In most paintball fields, the crowd is usually very friendly. Ask questions from veterans who have been playing there for a while. Most of them are kind enough to even let you try out their guns. That way you can get a feel on what you may plan to buy in the future. After everything is said and done and you think that you are ready to really get into paintballing... then it will be time to shop around for a nice gun. BTW, where do you guys plan to play?
__________________
Yea, ugly's right. A rental is the choice for you until you get more exp. Go, see how you like it, and see how much you're willing to spend on it. As for the equipment, you also might want to get a bandana or something to wear around your neck, i saw a girl get hit here once, it wasnt pretty.

Has anyone received their FREE pair of Motorola Talkabout radios yet?

Has anyone received their FREE pair of Motorola Talkabout radios yet? Buick was giving them away for test driving a LeSabre. I haven't gotten mine yet and I'm starting to worry that they've decided not to give them out, b/c I did the Pathfinder and Alero test drives on the same day and got the freebies for doing them around 3-4 weeks ago. I'm gonna be pretty upset if Buick screws me over like this.

Does anyone have Buick's PHONE NUMBER for this promotion? Thanks.

those of you who got the best buy credit

have you noticed how much best buy sucks? their cd's are way overpriced and they charge you just for placing an online order. they also charge you tax even if youplace an out of state order. so i dont feel bad when i ask, do you want to get together our promo codes and see if we cant figure out the pattern for the code, maybe get ourselves a few extra store credits. maybe this belongs in the hacks forum. i dont know. i hope you save the code for your credit. let me know

I don't know what your problem is att. I'm completely happy with BestBuy.com. I ordered a remote control there with my gc and got it today and it works great! Shipping didn't seem any more expensive than other places we all have ordered from.

Also, give them a break. It is a new internet site which is bound to have problems, low selection, etc. Give them time to get settled in and everything before you try and scam them. (Something which is technically illegal!)

That's another thing...for everyone, not just you, att. Why does everyone care so much about ripping companies off like that? Why do something illegal just to save a buck? Do you have no morals? Just curious...

well, i dont really mind the tax, it was lower than our state tax, but they are only in business to make money, which they do buy jacking up their prices. take a look at their cd selection, there are cd's in there that are 3x's their value. so who cares if they get ripped off? its not your company and they will rip you off in a second, by charging you an inflated price when you dont realize what the price should be. and as far as morals go, i have my own morals, not yours, and there's no reason for me to share your morals, we have grown up in completely different places in different lives. i value what i believe is valuable. best buy is not something i need to worry about, and its not something you should be concerned with. dont tell me you never signed up for a free tshirt from a site that was only giving them to school teachers or data warehousing professionals. its the same thing.

This really cuts down on the level of responsibility that people show. Notice the most stupidity comes from people without the little flying envelope? Why is it not a requirement to display this?

__________________
Remember the guy who got escorted out of Office Depot by the police for trying to get the pricematch?? Well here's another story about how hot dealin' can get you arrested:

Like many of us, i signed up for p@ypal and xc@m back in January Feburary for the Hot Deal of FREE MONEY..what could be better, right? Seemed so good I told all my friends and family to signup to...heck I even let them signup on my computer! Even did the direct deposit from p@ypal into xc@m so we could access our money through the ATM... signed up six people from my family, and alls well, right? WRONG!

Recently checks started bouncing at one of the xc@m accounts, even though there was $2000+ in there! WTF? Never heard a word from p@ypal or xcom...then login to the new combined x entrance and find all the p@ypal accounts are "restricted"...the x checking accounts do not show a restriction, but wont let you move any money within them, indicating they were frozen too...apparently they did this July 2...

...come TODAY, this idiot, John Kothanek (JKothanek@x.com)"Fraud Investigator" calls and says "youre in big trouble buddy, we've tracked your IP address and found you have created several accounts from there" I say yes I indeed have, whats the problem?? My mom, dad, me , friends etc, all signed up using my computer,,hell i even typed a couple of the apps...as soon as he heard that he flipped, stating what a HUGE Federal crime it was b/c I was opening accounts for other people, regardless of ANY facts, such as they were there, or had given permission, or were disabled and couldnt type (all true)..he says that alone is a violation of TOS and is wire fraud..i asked him to point out where it states it is not permitted to help type someone's app for them (in some cases it would be violating the Americans With Disabilities Act if these people were denied access to apply due to a disability)....

....this idiot then states he wants to talk to my mom and dad regarding charges on p@ypal from my CC deposited in their xcom accounts...i tell him to screw himself, after the way hes talking to me, theres no way imma let him talk to my mom and dad like that, especially since they are more "innocent" when it comes to the net and could actually get freaked by the BS this guy was running...he basically used that conclusion to prove I was engaged in fraud and said he would be "contacting the authorities". I told him go ahead, and whats gonna happen to the $2000+ in my checking account you have frozen, with checks getting bounced right and left - first he says he will allow a partial restriction, then makes the "executive decision" and says they will stay COMPLETELY frozen during investigation...Thats ridiculous, since if we had the P@ypal money sent to a non-affiliated bank or sent by check they couldnt pull this, only b/c xc@m and P@ypal have merged was he able to pull this, We specifically didnt want to give P@ypal our main bank # for this specific reason!

he didnt care, so I told him im gonna dispute the last CC-charged p@ypal deposit into an xc@m account that cant be accessed, since we didnt get the product we paid for. So in the end its really no big loss, just a lot of hassle...this guy, feeling outwitted, he sends an email after the conversation with this nice ending:

"""John Kothanek (650)251-1141

PS what about the meeting with your parents, you and myself to discuss this
in its entirety. I could bring law enforcement if that would make you more
comfortable. """

This guy is talking like im 15 years old, when i happen to be 25 and have been a law enforcement officer over 3 years ago!

Since when has YOUR local bank threatened to come visit you with the cops?? This idiot seems to forget I am a CUSTOMER with over $2000 of my money in their accounts, not some criminal who stole anything from them.....

I know there are more people who have had problems with these 2 companies, and want to warn others who may have signed up their friends/families from their computer....watch out! BE CAREFUL!!!

Ive seen their new requirement that you "link a bank account' at P@ypal....WHATEVER YOU DO, DONT LINK YOUR MAIN BANK ACCOUNT TO P@YPAL!!! They are tracking IP addresses, and from reading recent epinons on xcom, they are FREEZING peoples bank accounts left and right! This is one hot deal that definitely went bad....I was all for their services till this started, and reading other's experiences it seems once there is a problem youre screwed b/c they have NO customer service or concern!!
I'll keep ya posted if this guys' threats have substance behind them

#1 - Does this belong in the deals forum?

#2 - If you're really 25 years old, why would he want to talk to your mom and dad?

Sounds fishy to me. If your parents and other people signed up legitimately, he would have their contact information. I think perhaps you got other's permission, but you solely signed them up for the bonus money, therefore his accusations could indeed have merit.

AND SO WHAT if we signed up just for the bonus money---WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT??!!! their site never said you can't signup just for the bonus money - thats the only reason many of us did!

ESSM: thanks, youre right its not about luck, its about not being able to do something so ridiculous to anyone!

so does this mean that they are freezing accounts created by users who are inside a firewall or a private network with NAT (network address translation) enabled? I asked because I think that in both situations, the outside world can only see one public ip address, but that doesn't mean that all transactions took place through one computer, it just means that they all use the same gateway.
__________________
This is really ridiculous. If they are doing this, they will be freezing millions of accounts. Why make such an assumption? Because many students uses their school's computer to log onto the internet, and school computers go through just 1 IP address.

I heard about ecount closing account for having more then one account, but really if they going to freeze accounts because of having same ip they can just freeze all accounts. I wish you luck on getting all your money back (plus intrest).

This sounds fishy to me too. I have several questions:

1. If you are/were in law enforcement "3 years ago" (whatever that means), you should know the laws and your rights. Why do you not appear to?

2. As Maggie mentioned, if you're over 18 then the company's beef lies with you *individually.* If they have a beef with your parents, that is addressed seperately as you are a legal adult now and responsible for your own actions (i.e. "let me talk to your parents" works up through highschool, but after that you deal with your own messes.)

3. I think you mean that your PayPal account was frozen; these people cannot freeze state or national bank accounts without a court order and you would definitely have heard about it.

I think there is something we're not being told here...

I was on a plane flight home yesterday and I was reading the July PC World magazine and there was an article in their about all these online escrow services and how only 2 of them had licenses to operate, and three were applying for them. No names were mentioned (that was rather odd) but the gist of it was that in some states (esp. California) those services are illegal because they do not have a license to operate their business.

In other words, a lot of those escrow services out there might not be legit w/o a license. After all, their might not be that much of diff. between giving money to a stranger and giving money to a strange escrow service that has no license?

I have been restricted at PayPal too. I was restricted for posting an unsolicited message on Usenet. My money has been frozen for a couple of weeks now. The worst thing about PayPal is once those nazis decide to freeze your account, there is no one who can assist you via telephone or email! All you can do is file an appeal and wait for a reply. They answer their appeals in the order they are received and I assume they have weeks of email backlogged. They have frozen $200 of legit money, I haven't even received one referal bonus!

Confinity is backed by the venture arms of industry leaders Nokia Ventures, idealab Capital Partners, Goldman Sachs, and Deutsche Bank. if you're looking for a deal

post it on the off topic page or post the price you found on the suckage page. that way the deals page will contain only deals. we're getting too much bs in the deals forum. if someone is inclined to do so, they can post their response on the deals page if it is found to be a deal.

Mavi forum

different forums...

It seems like everyone posts EVERYTHING in the deals forum... why? cause thats were 75% of the members go to read posts, they don't bother with the other forums, so if people want to be heard, they post it in the deals forum.... I guess I'm wondering do we want the different forums? Is there a way we can talk people into using the different forums? Maybe if there was more moderators, and when the post got moved, it no longer showed up in its original forum it would help? I dunno... just wondering... seems like all the different forums doesn't work out so well right now, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts....

Can't really force people to come into the other forums. The best thing to do is just keep everything organized, and if all people want is to check on the deals then so be it. The moderators do a pretty good job of keeping things organized here.

Know good place to rent Jet Skis in Houston, Tx?

Alright, alright...

I know it's bad for the environment, and these guys are ripping me off charging 50-60 bucks an hour, but I got to go rent some jet skis (hey, it floats my boat!), and I can only locate two places...

So... if you know of any places in Houston, PLEASE tell me.

---------
BTW, I realize that you folk in CA,OK or NY (Yeah, you know who you are ) might not have the most useful input here, but I've just spent my entire lunch break searching the web for Houston Jet Ski Rental places and only found two. So I figure I can't do much worse posting here!!

Okay, what does Houston have that can top Austin? No really?? I'm not nuts about this city... You guys have better air, better water, and cheaper jet ski rentals... What do we have? Galveston? Rice? Oh, The Astros (Cause they're so GOOD)! Damn. Too bad it's not worth the drive just so I can save 25 bucks an hour on jet ski rentals.

Thank you C64user for offering, but I don't expect other people to do leg work on my behalf. I was just hoping someone from Houston may have already found a great place to rent jet skis.

(hypocritical) But... if your friends are easy to get in touch with I'd appreciate to know what they say about renting jet skis in Houston. Thanks! (/hypocritical)

Good Banks Anyone?

I live in Redmond WA, right outside of seattle, but I go to school in Boston, go BU.

I was wondering if anyone new of any good east/west coast banks. Right now I have to have 2 accounts which is really a pain, Bank of America sucks, so I should probably get rid of them, you have to use a modem to do their crappy online banking. And I use Fleet in boston, not too bad, lots of online stuff. Just wondering if anyone knew of any good banks.

You don't have to dial into BofA, you can just go to their website...
But I agree completely, B&M banks just don't make sense for most normal transactions. I'm switching my money to First Internet Bank of Indiana, www.firstib.com. Gomez has a pretty sweet deal on them, give it a shot. I'm washing my hands of BofA just as soon as I can.
__________________
Ya I just checked BofA's website and you have to download software which allows you to dial into to them, so you can't connect with out a modem, and I have dsl so I haven't used a modem in a long time.

here is what their site says:
"You can use HomeBanking with Banker On Line software from any IBM-compatible computer with Windows and a modem. It connects you directly to your accounts at Bank of America without going through an internet service provider."

Oh well, but ya I need to get rid of them, they charged me 25 bucks cause I overdrew my account by $2, damn.

Thats odd. I connect to BofA through the website without any probelms. I can check my account, make transfers and etc. Don't know what your problem is, never had to download software.

FreeISP & Internet Connection Sharing Question..

Yeah, I know this isnt a deal, but I figured people in here use Free ISPs and would know this...

I recently lost my University DialUp account due to graduating, so I need another source of Internet access, hence free ISPs. But I've ran into some problems...

I have the 56k modem in my Windows2000 PC which is also connected to my LAN. I *used* to have my University dialup setup for internet connection sharing (ICS), and everything on the Home LAN played nice and could see the internet. Well, now my University account is dead and I am left with Free ISPs.

When I setup the free isp's they put in a Dialup networking entry, and I setup ICS on that entry, then login with the free isp software. However, none of the free ISPs I've tried (netzero, altavista, bluelight...) are willing to give internet access to the Home LAN via ICS.

Am I doing something wrong, or do these free isp's prohibit ICS over their connections?

Any experiences you've had with different ISPs please let me know Or point me to a page with lots of info on lots of different free isp's for the USA.

thanks,

free4apc

__________________
I do not think these are related issues. Windows shares a connection, and netzero, freeInet, etc, have no control over what Win2K does when it shares a connection. It creates a DHCP server and has other ocmputers access it and the internet connection. Double check your ICS settings. If worst comes to worst, and nothing is sharing, try Wingate or another 3rd party proxy server

CD Burner

I was wondering how to convert mp3s to cd audio format. I of course have a cd burner, but wasnt 100% sure. I've been told to convert the mp3s to .wav format & change the titles of the .wavs to the # corresponding to the desired track #

I also heard that only certian colors of CDRs work as audio cds....blue, green, gold...not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

__________________
Use ezcd creator 4.0 or nero. It will automatically convert the .mp3 for you. Also, any cd-r should work with a cd player, just as long as your cd player isn't too old. It also just depends on the player, you have to experiment. But I personally have not had any problems from using the cheapest medai to the most espensive. Some people just have bad luck.
__________________
.mp3 to .wav is usually called decoding, reverse is usually called encoding. Winamp decodes, or you can get a decoder from www.cnet.com/downloads and look for mp3 decoder. I don't think color has to do with audio cd-r's. I have had better luck with the name brand cd-r's though such as verbatim, sony, tdk, maxell, or S&F.

yup a good laungh is all that wanted
i hear that the most games in GDformat don't exceed the normal cd size that is why they can burn them on cds. Heard that sega wants to implement a requirement that all games be over the cd limit so not as easy to replicate.

The Golden Orb

I feel this should also be in the deals section as well as the hardware because of the popularity of the Golden Orb. There have been some cases of destroyed CPUs and Shredded fingers (me being the latter) due the the force needed to twist the Orb into place. I have a quick guide to make the orb much more pliable:

Materials needed:
1 Golden Orb
1 Needle nose pliers

Quick note: The following is done OFF the CPU
The installation comes with the ORB. Also, this is for the Socket 370/472 version. The whole idea though will still work for other versions.

When you twist, two pegs travel up two ramps to create the "hold", just before falling into a notch. Twist the pegs to the peak right before the notch. Now take the pliers and tug at each end of the clip(the part where it actually clips to the socket) Tug hard on each side about a dozen times.

Note for excessive people (ie. me): "Hard" does not mean "all your strength". We just want to loosen up the metal.

There, now install as normally. Enjoy!

BTW, if I get enough request, I'll make a quick webpage and post pics.

It was your experience that urged me to write "the guide". I felt very uncomfortable with appling that much force. Even after the "tweak", it took a bit a force (but a reasonable amount this time).
I'll get a website with some pics hopefully next week (I have to get a camera first).

On a side note: out of all the Golden Orbs, I got a bad one. It seems the wires are loose, as the fan keeps cutting out. Anyone have a similar problem?

Yep, those things are a bitch to tighten down. I got myself a BP6 with dual cpus, so I had to twist 2 of them!!!

I just used one of those anti-slip pads which gave me a non-slip grip plus, it saved my fingers/hand from mutilation.

I have taken them off since and they seemed much easier to put on a second time. Maybe it is because I was unsure of how hard to twist the first time not wanting to damage the cpu.
