What movies would you get?

I'm thinking of cashing in on that "old" Columbia House DVD deal but I'm having the hardest time choosing which 6 DVD's to get. I'm not a big-time DVD/movie buyer but I figure at price like this what the heck.

So I basically want to get 6 movies that would be considered classics. You know, the movies that you can watch over and over, the ones that don't have boring periods, etc. I want to get 6 movies that are considered (in my book to be the best). But since there are so many movies out there that are good I thought if I get feedback on what other people would get it might help to widen my eyes to other good movies. So what 6 would you get? I'm trying to stray away from the "new" movies.

Here are a few of my possible choices: Terminator 2, Pulp Fiction, The Rock, Young Guns... man too bad they don't have Back to Future or Braveheart!

bastards haven't even released Back to the Future on DVD because of legal issues. I'd go for T2 (as a matter of fact that was the first DVD i got)

Why I oughta... I was wondering why that movie hasn't been release, that's a classic.

I was going through their rather decent collection and have to add to the considerations FaceOff (I love Cage combo movies), Shawshank Redemptionm and The Usual Suspects. Decisions decisions

they all are great movies, hmmm

Well, I don't know if these are choices, but these are the ones I would buy:

Shawshank Redemption, Life is Beautiful, Taxi Driver, Brazil, The Breakfast Club wide screen, and The Godfather. Happy hunting.

And furthermore, I believe that Carthage should be destroyed.

If you have DTS Apollo 13 is worth getting simply for listening to the sound. The sound of the world's most powerful engine ever created lifting off a launch pad is just incredible. The visuals are also great.

The first movie I bought was Contact because I love the movie, it was cheap (a Warner Brothers movie) and the vivid colors and sound really showed off what DVD could do. Oh, Contact also has a lot of extras like behind the scenes look at how the animation was done.

And I don't think anybody here would say no the Matrix! Whoa! I know Kung Fu!

Ço£o§§ü§ - yeah you can read into it...

You lads should sit down and watch real films like 12 Angry Men or Dirty Harry or Nikita or Betty Blue or...or...

I have 12 Angry Men and I love that movie. But Apollo 13 is a great film for those nostalgics like me, Matrix is great for pure sci fi, and Contact is great to get you thinking about your life in this world.

I have to pee now....

someone once told me that the first dvd you should own after purchasing a dvd player is bladerunner. the first dvd i purchased was the matrix; bladerunner came a few months later. the version i have is the director's cut without the narration by harrison ford and with a new ending. i think i have heard that a collector's edition is coming out which contains both the original version and the director's cut. if you haven't seen this movie, do so now! it's a sci-fi classic!
