Can anybody suggest a good FREE program that I can use to convert MP3's to WAV files __________________ You can use winamp to convert winamp to wave files. Winamp is free to download. CDR's are recordable not rewriteable meaning that you can only record on them just one time. No erasing. A CDRW can be recorded and erased multiple times. Most home and car audio systems will recognize CDR's but they will not recognize CDRW's. This is a generalization and I'm sure some high end stuff can recognize both.__________________ cd-r is record only - oncecd - rw iw re-writable so multiple times there are free programs out there u can seach download.com or tucows. mostly slow though because using the fauken (spelling?) encoding/decoding. http://download.cnet.com/downloads/1...t&cn=&ca=10001 [This message has been edited by CluelessSi (edited 08-08-2000).] __________________ quote: new systems reconise both my car system being a year old can reconize both __________________ hm...if u don't have to i wouldn't suggest converting mp3's back to wav's, there's no point. an mp3 is a compressed version of a wave file, and the way that is achieved (as i'm told) is by blowing chunks of the wave out, leaving u w/ whole bunches of holes if u look at it on a wave analyzer. then it's compressed from there, giving u an mp3. it's like making space in the closet, u throw a whole buncha stuff out. if u want to fill it up agin the only thing u can do is spread the stuff in there around, but the amt of stuff stays the same. it's much like interpolating.Chunkalicious __________________ but Chunky...if i dont convert the MP3's to WAV I cant write them unto a CD__________________ quote: on the contrary many programs do it automatically if u want free ones check out my link above. musicmatch jukebox is great too but shareware __________________ what do you mean by automatically? If I download a MP3 off of Napster, in order to burn it unto a CD I have to use a program to convert it, right?__________________ some burning programs takes MP3s and will convert them right before they get burned. thuse saving u the hassle time and space to convert all of them before burning__________________ but aren't I required to use the burning software that comes w/ my burner? (i.e. HP software)__________________ quote: Nope, just as long as the software supports your burner which most does, you can use. __________________ hell no...use Adaptec CD Creator 4 or Nero..they do MP3s and have an automatic wizard to put em on CD...__________________ Thanks everybody!! __________________ AJ...I have to buy those programs , right....do you know of any free software that does the same thing?__________________ quote:Heehee yup AJ I purposely did not mention those programs cause he wants free ones. I think Nero might be free though but not sure but there are many programs out there if u don't mind shareware i will suggest Music Match Jukebox __________________ Thanks cluelessSi...for the advise for the cheapskate over here!! __________________ I believe Nero's free, I had it for awhile and I downloaded it from somewhere so unless I stumbled across a full version online I had the shareware copy. Great program though, but heed the warning it gives about installing it when Adaptec DirectCD's already installed... I ignored the warning, and then my computer didn't start ;p Had to boot up in Safe Mode and do a little handiwork to get things back to normal.quote: __________________ quote: REALLY?? hmm i have direct CD installed and use nero don't seem to have any problems.. what type of problem will it give? I might have had it turned off when i installed |
