Think old skool! Remember way back before the PS2, before the PSX, before the n64, snes, before Sega. Yes thats rite, I'm talking about good ol' 8-bits. Whats your favorite NES game? I love Zelda 2 (adventures of link), even though critics say its the worst. That, and probably the early megamans.... Oh, and superdodgeball, that was a good game also..... memories..... brings a tear to my eye __________________ i liked final fantasy the bestest. i also liked gauntlet but only when i had a friend over to play it with.too bad ff8 sucked so bad, maybe 9 is a little better, i wish they would stop fooling around with 3d. just because you can make a game in 3d doesnt mean you should. __________________ Man, I remember playing Marble Madness for hours. That game ruled. I have it on my computer as a ROM, but it just isn't quite the same. I could never figure out exactly how to beat the final level either, but such is life.__________________ mmmmm... the nostalgiaI would have to say Kung-Fu or RC Pro Am. I initially thought Gyromite was kind of cool but could never get ROB (Robot Operating Buddy) to work right. __________________ Those were the days, playing for hours with friends with nothing to worry about. my favorites were contra (i could play this for hours, the best third person shooter ever made) super mario bros (the best and hardest of the nes marios) marble madness (ever heard of nintendo thumb?) and mega man (i think this is the reason i wear glasses) im sure there are more, but i cant remember now (its like 3:30 am) . seriously though, i play those games more now than i ever played, pc, snes and psx combined. and now back to the present __________________ SUPER DODGE BALL!!!!__________________ Yeah, it's all about Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. The older the better for RPGs.__________________ Final Fantasy is probably my favorite. (or the original zelda) I knew every secret to every nook in those games. I used to play final fantasy hours on end, but nothing compared to my original party: Fighter, Thief, W mage, B mage. It was the most fun. Sure, there are better parties, (Two fighters, W mage, B mage; One fighter, 2 R mages, One W mage) but I had everything planned out BEFORE I had the game. I'm talking Nintendo Power, folks. Remeber those "free" issuses they were giving out? One of them was for final fantasy. I remember reading the whole damn strategy guide and I fell in love with the game, so I asked it for my birthday and got too damn addicted to the game.Among my other fav's: Wizards and Warriors Dragon Warrior Castlevania (original) Ikari Warriors Ghost's 'N Goblins (I could never beat that damned game w/o cheating) Double Dragon Commando Mike Tyson's Punch Out DodgeBall --edit-- Man, I can't believe who is still up and posting to this thread. You guys have good taste... __________________ Yeah, Final Fantasy kicked ass.I liked the original wrestling. Fighter Hayabusa all the way!!! Metroid was also rad. And I was always a big Xevious fanatic, on the NES and in the arcade. __________________ Remember how hyped Super Mario bros 3 was when it first came out? That was a great game, an alltime classic. Excite bike is yet another allltime classic, imho.__________________ Contra -- with the 30 menMike Tysons Punch Out Hudsons Adventure Island RBI Baseball Baseball Stars Tecmo Super Bowl __________________ Ooh, forgot about Baseball stars. That was the one where yougot cash for each win, depending on how famous your players were, and spent it on improving your players, right? That game was ****in great. The baseball play was great, and the season concept was unique. Also, liked Double Dragon and Renegade. Damn, I could go on and on, I was such a Nintendo junky when I was younger! __________________ Quote:
For the life of me, I don't think I ever intentionally connected with the goddamn Back Brain Kick. Clearly, the hottest player was Star Man, even if he did prefer the Rainbow set (how do I know? Hello, what kind of pro wrestler wears a hot pink unitard?!?!). But by far, the best sports game, maybe of all time, was Baseball Stars. Life Force was an underappreciated game that was, in my mind, way better than Contra. __________________ TECMO Super Bowl and the original Zelda...Dragon Warrior was pretty sweet too... I still think Old School Nintendo is better then all the new games... sure the graphics are cooler, but you've got 27 button it seems, and 512 combinations you can do with each button to do anything... The old way was much better, its one button or the other, and start pauses it... You could just sit down and play, not spend 6 months trying to figure out the buttons... __________________ Some of mine include Bases Loaded 2, Double Dragon 2, and the best of the best, Micro Machines!! __________________ Damn.. MEMORIES! Hours of sitting there playing those games.I can't believe nobody mentioned Kid Icarus.. That game was the best! But Final Fantasy, Dragon Warrior, Zelda, and there are a couple more.. Those are the best. __________________ I loved Super Mario Brothers & Contra... I used to play those for hours. And Final Fantasy 8 rocked, DaFunkyUnit __________________ One of the best 2 player games of all time was/is Dr. Mario, I still play that with friends all the time. ! player games... Hummm: Blaster Master; Metal Gear; Punch Out; Zelda; Excite Bike; and the best, Bionic Commando! __________________ Honestly, I don't think I could ever list all my favorite Nintendo games... there really is too many... Just reading through the forum I see ones I haven't thought about in ages. Gotta agree with Coleslaw though, aside from the obvious favorites, FF, Zelda, Contra, Metriod, Excite Bike, etc. etc., Micro Machines was and always will be a great game. Tecmo bowl is an awesome game, and the original Pro Wrestling was hours of fun. I liked the Original Metal Gear as well. All of the Mega Mans were fun too. In fact, just after reading through this, I went to my local used game shop and bought about 20 NES games, and only spent $40. Now that's some serious gaming quality and quantity for your money. Aha! Time and patience, grasshopper! I mastered it and it was the only way I knew how to win the game. I didn't know anyone else who could. __________________ I have a Pentium-100 computer which is dedicated solely to playing NES ROMS! I have over 300 games installed, plus I have 4 NES controllers, a Four Score and 2 NES Advantage controllers converted to the parallel port!! It brings back such memories!__________________ My favorites:Zelda Marble Madness Contra Metroid Castlevania Master Blaster Final Fantasy I have Snake's Revenge :p (Yes the prequel to Metal Gear Solid) I remember playing Final Fantasy when I was very young.. I couldn't even read and had to have my mom read the lines to me. __________________ Quote:
I think you're vote's been disqualified on account that Final Fantasy 8 is for playstation. __________________ Another one of my favorites is Castlevania 2. Again, its different from the rest of the series, but thats why I love it soo much. I played that thing for hours on end, and I always daydreamed that I was Simon Belmont in school (good ol 3rd grade)__________________ Tecmo Bowl SUPER dodgeball rad racer Punch Out Bionic Commando .... this list could go on forever... __________________ tecmo bowl, 'nuff said.__________________ Quote:
Oh man, I forgot about Bionic Commando. I was so peeved that the last guy was so easy... Remember that? You just had to shoot the plane ONCE with the big gun. LOL __________________ River City Ransom was the best__________________ Quote:
That was the coolest NES game ever, even better than Zelda, imho! I remember buying it for the ridiculous price of $45 ... and I also remember thinking, "There's no way graphics could ever get better than THIS!" oops. __________________ oh yeah, I forgot Renegade-with those big fat women with bricks in their purses... Battletoads and the enlarged appendages Arch Rivals and the hilarious "depantsing" dive. those games were hilarious Mavi forum |
