IT SICKENS ME...

It sickens me that people criticize Bush for being and idiot while not looking at how stupid Gore is also. The media plays a big part in this because the media is biased. I bet you didnt know that Gore was sued by the secret service agency because he said he only wanted 2 blacks as a body guard.
I bet you guys DO know that Bush received a D in foreign policy in college. But did you know that Gore received 5 F's out of eight classes at divinity school(he also did not receive his degree there)? And that he got a C- in introductory economics, D in science, and DID NOT graduate from Vanderbilt Law School.

My point is, that all you ignorant voters out there that are voting for Gore, you need to be educated.

Heres a great webpage for you guys to read about Gore... http://www.algore-2000.org/
And keep in mind that the statements on that page are true.

So let me get this straight: I should educate myself by reading Republican propaganda? Take a look at the "news" service linked by that page: newsmax, which lists as a feature link a "911 call by Alan Keyes, Ed Meese, Bob Dornan and more!" Well, Alan Keyes is almost Buchanan-like in his right-wingitude, and I don't even need to elaborate on Ed Meese, on of the most roundly reviled public figures of the last two decades.

Those voting for Gore SHOULD educate themselves outside of the liberally-biased media; those using http://www.algore-2000.org/ as a credible news source should take their heads out of their asses.

People should read and look at publications with different political views. Alas many people do not. And thats truly sad.

Ps penny you can also find people linking to anti-Bush websites as a credible source of information. Guess they better get their heads out of their asses also.

I still like that one.

Missed the point as usual. The short answer is, yes, too many people with heads up their asses. The longer answer, American's have lost the ability to critically assess what they read. The only ones left: well-educated writers who choose journalism, not exactly a very rewarding field. Whoops, a tangent.

Another one:
Isn't it strange that generally well-educated urban professionals generally vote Democrat, while rural areas are Republican strongholds? I guess it's the difference between lifestyles: "cityfolk" rely on interconnected services, "farmers" are perceived to rely on themselves.

Well I'm just saying you Gore lovers should get "the other side of the story" by reading "republican propaganda". You get enough liberal propaganda already by watching TV (ie the news). I dont really have a problem with voting Gore, just as long as you are voting for the right reasons. For example, after Gore's convention speech, his wife came out and they smooched each other. Some female voters were actually swayed by this and turned their vote to Gore. Now thats an example of what I mean by an ignorant voter.

And isnt it strange that generally the elderly tend to vote republican? And isnt there a say that goes "The older you are, the wiser you get?"

Nah . . . the older you are, the more selfish you get. You stop caring about the future and simply want what is coming to you as quickly as possible. Therefore, short-sighted and ill-advised economic plans appeal to them since it gives them what they want immediately and leaves those young whipper snappers to clean up the mess.

Hmmmm . . . I think I'm an agist. Well . . . I always knew I was . . . but still. (c: . . . hehe

Sounds a little more credible to me. You want to see what's sickening? How both candidates kowtow to all the old farts in the AARP. Why? Because they vote like no other demographic. Here we are arguing about how to save the greatest Ponzi scheme the world's ever known, and no-one's asking if we SHOULD.
SS was supposed to end after the Depression, and now it's just one big monkey on our backs that we can't shake because the old folks vote like crazy, and the ones who have to pay for it don't at all. A sad state of affairs.

Hehe I like this one:
It was a Buddhist Temple?

Al Gore, when asked about his illegal fundraising activities that took place in a Buddhist temple: "I didn't realize I was in a Buddhist temple."

Yeah...I know a lot of places where bald men run around in orange robes with incense burning.
(A Senate committee investigating campaign finance voted to issue 43 new subpoenas, including 23 connected to a Democratic fund-raising event at the Hsi Lai Buddhist temple in California that was attended by Vice President Al Gore. Participants paid $2,500 each to attend, in apparent violation of the temple's tax-free status as a non-political religious group (5/23/1997)
Wait though... he may have not realized it was a fundraiser because he was in the bathroom!
But Mr. Gore said he was sometimes inattentive and missed parts of fund-raising meetings. He told the F.B.I., according to notes of a 1998 interview, that "he drank a lot of iced tea during meetings, which could have necessitated a restroom break." New York Times, 3/11/00

What else do we expect of the mediocre educational system we have? Its not producing people with the ability to think critically for themselves.

Many people don't want to think and be responsible for themselves. They want to be taken care of and have government do everything for them. This is called socialism.

Are you saying that well-educated journalists are the only Americans with the ability to think critically?

There are suburbs that vote Republican. Cities alas are definitely Democrat strongholds.

PBS, NBC, CNN and company like to pretend to be neutral sources of information without political bias when they are not. They are slanted to the liberal political viewpoint. Conservative sources of information on the other hand don't pretend to be neutral.

Welcome to the wonderful world of the liberal news media.

read The Economist, or economist.com

Its a British weekly and has an excellent, fairly objective section on US and North American politics and economics.

Its world coverage blows the **** out of anything produced by a U.S. publisher.

The older people do tend to vote Republican more, mostly because they get mad and grouchy because of the arthritis

Seriously though, I've found myself becoming more and more tolerant as I got older. My parents are so uptight about personal repsonsibility and morals of the country, so they usually voted Republican. When I was young I was hardcore Republican and was blind to what I promoted. I almost flipped when my dad voted Clinton in '92 (something which he denies doing now hehe).

Anyways, as I head towards medical school and realize a lot of people have valid points and proof to back up their points (for everything, not just politics), I'm less apt to shout and more apt to look for reasoning and logic. That's why I can see good and bad in every candidate. That's why I would have voted for Al Gore, if you he actually stood for what he campaigns for - a pro middle class legislator. His track record, has shown him to be otherwise, however. I probably can't say much different for Bush either.

I think you're best shot at looking at American politics is to read foreign material and watch public news (ie PBS). You're more apt to see people talk about policy and ideas than Gore's sweaty armpits and Bush's lack of intelligence.

BTW, I got a C+ on my first pass through O'Chem 132A at UCLA with professor Luceigh. Anybody wanna try taking that class and doing better? I took her just because I knew she would be hard and I would have to work my ass off.

I'm not going to judge either candidate by their grades in school. Bush's foreign policy ability and Gore's study of divinity probably excel my grasp. They, however, can't beat my last 2 Cardiology scores
