Do you really care what rank you are here?

I won't mention names, heeheee, but it appears some people post just for the sake of posting and getting thier rank upgraded. Does it have any effect at all, or just astetically count?

Wow. I hope that you don't mean that. First off, it's Osama, not Musadin. And, it's Laden, not Ladinn.
Even if we knew where he was, and could kill him, chances are we wouldn't. You robably want to know why. Check out the reason for WWI, the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand. Now, you're probably going to say that he was a leader of a recognized country, but that really doesn't matter in this situation. Bin Laden has followers all over the world. He can send a suicide bomber anywhere, and on a moment's notice have hundreds of people dead, and millions scared. And it doesn't have to be in the US for it to matter either. Imagine a bomb goes off at the airport in Madrid. Security worldwide tightens, people are skeptical of air travel, and a good part of the world is disrupted. If Bin Laden were to be assassinated by a western country, especially by the US, it would mean a death warrant for thousands of people. You want that much blood on your hands? And I believe that it is also against the Geneva Convention to have a nations military used to assassinate someone. There's a good reason that Sadam is still in power. Also, if the US did something as blind as your proposed idea, the UN would not be pleased. And don't think they won't kick the country out or place sanctions on it. After all, how long has it been since the leading superpower, and one of the wealthiest countries in the world paid their dues?

The UN is just a political arm of the US military and NATO.
Sorta like Sinn Fein, but we let the other countries send representatives to watch and pretend that decisions are made multilaterally. That's why we'll never be kicked out.

Yep, targeting an individual for assassination using the military does indeed break the Geneva convention. Besides, there's the whole "honor amongst thieves" thing going. Heads of state don't like to see other heads of state assassinated, cause they're all in the same club when you get right down to it.

Besides, no Osama Bin Ladin would mean one less enemy for the government to frighten the American people with and justify our military conquests.

And yeah, making martyrs isn't exactly the best way to deal with an enemy (better to make friends, dontcha think?)

First off, I'm basically just talking out of my ass. = )Just for fun, I do find it entertaining. But Sure, I'd love to splatter his blood with my own hands, and yes I do think it'd be a great service to this world i.e. western world. I also think something a trite as assassinating his ass, we could cover it up, some how we'd devise something. As to such an action being taken by us, as a nation, I can point out 1998's attack on the Air Force base. What did we do in retaliation? We bombed some of his supposed bases. If that's not directly trying to kill him, what is? Precision bombing, direct assassination, I can't draw a line? Either way we tried to kill him and if given the chance we would certainly again! I pray so.

Point on point, I heard on the radio today that in one war we fought soley based on the sinking of one of our ships. Quit honestly I can't sight which war, but it happened. You wait and see, we will retaliate, there is no question in that. I hope with undignified brutal force. You don't mess with the U.S of A. = )

Speaking on your point about the UN, that's laughable. Who funds about 80% of the organization? We do. We routinely vote the other way or go against their grain. I doubt we very seriously consider their wishes if it goes against what we want to do. I.e. the Gulf War, i.e the ransacking of Serbia -Bosnia.

I will stop the rant now. It is all written with humility and in good-natured fun. Don't go declaring war on me. Just a debate.

Last thing I want to say is, don't be a trite ass punk and correct a man's spelling. Come on dude.

1) The post exceeds at least 25 lines of text
2) It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever in certain regions, often leading people to disregards large portions of it and just skipping to the end, much like this post right here

With the above 2 considerations, I think only Renots, Pennypinch, and myself have posts

You're right. My ******* side got the best of me with the spelling. As to the assassination attempt. That still doens't make it right or smart. I am still a firm believer that a whole lot of trouble would come fromthe killing of Bin Laden. He's too powerful, and too smart.

As to the making friends with enemies comment by Zen, we tried that with countries like Zaire (now Republic of Congo). That really didn't accomplish much, other than yet another dictatorship that was overthrown. Mobutu is just as bad as Bin Laden.

PS, The beer may have gotten the best of me, so I'll read this over when I'm sober and see how much of a jerk I am...

No it really doesn't matter about number of posts.

America doesn't have to be the country that whacks Bin Laden. Israel certainly would kill his ass if the opportunity arose.

TheBluGuy drunkenly spoke: "The UN is just a political arm of the US military and NATO." changed to "The UN is just the political arm of sniveling anti-Western countries who are ungrateful for all the foreign aid they get!"

zenbooty laughably said: "Besides, no Osama Bin Ladin would mean one less enemy for the government to frighten the American people with and justify our military conquests." Military conquests? Yeah right. American war machine has become American peacekeeping machine.

Whoa, I didn't say that. And besides, the drunken Blu wrote the rebuttal to AWM's rebuttal. The sober Blu is writing this one, and also wrote the long one.

And if anyone cares, I'm paying for the booze this morning. And the Flyers lost.

Which is just a war machine with a pretty name. Pretty Orwellian, that is. Just like when they call an attack against another country "defending our interests". "Defense" is the term coined when "attack" is the real word to use.
You see, we put OUR military in THEIR land to "keep the peace."

Last I heard, occupation is conquest.

Saddam Hussein should have had his ass blown out of the water along time ago during desert storm, Bin Laden should have his balls surgically removed without any anesthesia, and that goes for the rest of those fanatics who are looking to kill our American Troups. You torture these asswholes and maybe they will think twice about getting out of line, not unless they live for suicide missions. If that be the case to hell with the scud missiles, go in and nuke them till their bones glow in the dark.
I must go and put on my lipstick and get ready for church now...
