Free Voodoo5 for Existing Voodoo3 users

Hey guys, first off, just relax a bit. If people are stealing left and right, that doesn't mean you have to get all worked up about it. Maybe you should shoot them (e.g. looters), but don't get worked up.

Its just a cultural thing. Some cultures when mixed with American Puritan culture seem to screw up the American system. Many un-American people feel that fraud is not a crime. That its justified because the victim wasn't smart enough to stop them and thus they didn't "deserve" the money. What these other cultures don't get is the idea of honesty and trusting your fellow man.

What can you do? Nothing. Don't do it yourself and report it in the fat chance you see it happening in front of you.

Well, as for my opinion on this thread, a person should take responsibility for his reaction. If he gets caught, then he definitely deserves it. If not caught, then he is just lucky.

Anybody interested in aftermarket auto parts, check out www.tuning-garage.com, all GotApex Forum members will get discounts, just let me know.

I wholeheartedly agree with what Pycho just wrote. There really is no gray area in this situation. Fraud is fraud, no matter how you try to justify it.

As for someone not getting caught, what comes around, goes around. Karma can be a bitch

This is just pathetic. Because of people like him that we pay premium for our goods. If a store looses money to thugs like him, it has to recover the loss from legitimate customers like you and I.

This is one of the reasons why I don't touch returned products @ Fry's (and they charge full price on returned items!).

Well, some may consider this stealing. Nontheless, it is always good to start a contreversial post. Here is a step by step guide:
1) take your voodoo3 out of your PC, bring it with you to fry's (leave it in the car)
2) Purchase a Voodoo5.
3) Open the box, replace with voodoo3 right away
4) return voodoo 5
5) enjoy voodoo 5

fry's doesnt care. I have done it twice. I upgraded my voodoo2 to a voodoo3 3000. From PCI->AGP and it was much bigger. Kaching. And also the voodoo 3 -> 5 also worked. If you say I just bought it, and the requirements for the card are too high for my old PC. They will just take it back

yeah thats pretty sketchy. wouldnt work at Best Buy...

it is stealing though, even though i'm not super opposed to it...

it's a$$holes like you guys that piss me off SO much. i went to micro center to buy another network interface card. however, i found a netgear 5 port hub and 2 network card set on the return rack for $40. sweet deal i thought - the return sticker said that the package was complete and functional. trusting the sticker, i purchased the set, only to find out when i got home that the network cards were not in the box. just two empty anti-static bags. i was so completely pissed!! i had driven about half an hour in rush hour traffic (with gas being at $2/gal) only to find out that i have to drive back there again!! geez!! is there anyway that stores can track items such as these, so that if returns are abused, they have record of who last purchased the item. theft should be charged to such individuals!! sorry to blow off steam, but when i read that post and someone admitted to it actually working, i was pissed.

I too have sinned....

I been carry this for a year now....
I did exactly what he did...bought Voodoo3 and return them the voodoo3 box with the voodoo2......It was at best buy.... It works... Oh forgive me.....

Since we are talking sketchy...why dont ya get that leather chair from staple with the discount.....and then take the invoice that arrive with the chair, back to the store: Staples, and return it for a full refund. The invoice, I am sure of, only have the full price of the item... Sketchy Very very sketchy....

Plain and simple, that is not a deal, that is stealing, fraud, what ever you want to call it. I hope the stores find out and you guys get charged, its not better than you walking in there and stealing it from them. I think its just wrong, and I am opposed to this post trying to justify it as a good deal. I agree with coleslaw, but I won't use profanity here to describe your actions.

WoW !! From legitimate deal hunting to downright theft. Why don't you just shoplift the damn thing right off the shelf. Morally, it's the same thing.

Apex, my humble opinion is that this thread should be quashed, along with the user name of some @$$hole promoting outright theft.

I just want to know what you have to say to them when they realized you have pulled the swap. What do you say "Oh i'm sorry I didn't know you couldn't swap cards like that"

I had a friend back in high school who did this, but mostly with software and games. His brother had one of those plastic wrapping machines, so he would go to Walmart or something and buy a PC games, take the CD (just the CD) out of the box, and then use the machine to rewrap the the box. It's almost like he never opened the box before, therefore, when he try to return it, the people working there didn't say anything because they thought it was never opened. Yeah, it's downright stealing and illegal, but when he told me about it, I just thought it was so freaken funny, but I also felt sad for person opening the CD case and finding it empty.

Stealing is so wrong, I hope you get your ass caught.

I seriously think that's crossing the line when it comes to "deals" down to , as someone said, downright stealing. If you somehow find a way for a company to give you the card w/o hurting other customers and without fraud, then I'd give you credit for that.

If you resort to stealing as your "Deal", then you're no better than those who break into peoples' cars and steal a stereo.

I can't judge you on what you do so I can't say I hope you get caught, but I think it's a serious problem when your own conscience can't stop you from doing stuff like that

That's a great deal but I've got a even better deal for you :
Wait 'til they close up at night and take a rock and smash the window and take all the stuff you like
Seriously try this,
and don't go grabbing any small stuff, just go right for the big ass TVs or even the Refrigerators and if they catch you tell them "I'm an @$$hole, just look at the deal I posted @ gotapex !"
I'm sure they'll feel bad for you because you're obviously not all there !
PS PATHETIC !

When I saw this topic, I was like kewl. I currently have a VooDoo 2, and you can trade in a VooDoo 3 for a VooDoo 5? I was like, I'll just purchase a VooDoo 3 and trade it for a VooDoo 5. Im not implying Im going to do what Y2J did. I just thought it was a promotional thing, like Diamond once have, I believe they still have it, that you can give them your old Diamond stuff for new stuff and pay off the difference.
Guess, I was suckered by the Topic heading. It would be Cewl if 3Dfx allowed you to do that though. oh well, anyway I don't like to pay *alot* for video cards, so I wait until they get to the $100 range. Hey, my voodoo 2 still runs great with any game out there, *except* for one. Which is Daikatana. I have a P2 400 with 196MB RAM, and it was like running Duke Nukem 3D with a 486 back then...Downright choppy! Stay away from Daikatana...

Cewl haha thats a new one...

It's very unfortunate that Y2J thinks that this is a great plan. Fry's probably doesn't even care, since some other customer gets worked over by your scheme. Think of it this way, you're not really stealing from Fry's (which at the very best would be considered questionable since they are evil), you are stealing from other customers. Either some other person buys it and doesn't know it, so they get a terrible deal, or Fry's realizes it and just raises prices to compensate. Morally despicable....

If there is justice, I pray that Y2J buys a new Voodoo6 and swaps in his Voodoo5, only to find that there is a Voodoo2 in the box, and he can't return it.

I would love to take advantage fo this one...but I use an ATI all in wonder because i need the TV tunner...ohh well

What the hell is this? As someone said to a thief (like you) a while back: this is a deals, not steals, board.

I hope you get caught.

I really don't see a deal that any good hearted GotApex? member would take advantage of.

So, Why is this in the deals section?

"...some may consider this stealing..."

Well Y2J, let's see here...

The U.S. Government would consider it stealing.

Any major religion would consider it stealing.

Anyone with a shred of morals would call it outright stealing.

So how could an immoral unamerican thief like this guy Y2J become a Senior member? Apex, if you really care about this board you'll kick off this sleazeball.

So many response posts to this. Reminds me of the problem with classrooms where the problem child takes all of the teacher's attention away from the good kids (er deals).

I'll tell you what Y2J, if I run across a free b/w stiped shirt I'll be sure to post it so you can have one your new home.

Stealing with a value over $100 is grand larceny, look into it.

Granted, Fry's is a piece of CHIT, but getting over is what's fun.
Stealing is easy, but getting a legitimate good deal is much more satisfying.
..~-_-~..To each his own I guess, after all, some people might not like it if I broke their arms in the Fry's return line!

I thought grand larceny was $500 dollars. But either way i think it's wrong to scam store out of their hard earn money..

Not kewl at all, y2j you're just a phool. If you're supa dope at all you would apologize for even starting this thread. Stealing is just wrong! The only thing I been know for stealing is the girls hearts.

I have to agree... that is a very weak move. Only bitch-ass thieves pull stuff like that.

It's like those dikless F___ers who have thier friends vandalize their car so they can get a new paint job or that "cool new" groundFX kit that's popular at the time, paid for by their insurance company. My rising insurance costs pay for $hit like that and stores have to raise prices to cover potential theft... for situations like this.

DON'T STEAL.

Wiggle a deal, read the fine print... take full advantage of a promotion within its written rules, but DON'T STEAL.

Dave.
