Does a Good credit report make a Good Human Being(or Vice Versa?)

This thought occurred to me today as I received an email from my ll summarily rejecting a roomate applicant of mine because the applicant[a good friend of mine who I could literally trust with my life] because he honestly admitted in the roomate interview to having in the past experienced credit problems, very minor ones, but he wanted to be upfront about it. I know in the past he experienced problems with alcohol which probably led him to become late on on a phone bill or two, but he made the admission naively in that he would still get a fair shake as a human being rather than a credit score.

Credit scores don't mean jack in terms of what makes a good roomate; they are WAY too arbitrary and arcane for most people to understand and thus far too many Good and Genuine people fall into the bad (or even just Grey) credit trap. I know I did but I manage to work my way out by getting to know the system. and of course there is a system as otherwise they wouldn't have arbitrary reasons to charge some[most] people higher rates. The only things that make this system fair are federal guidelines[which could just as well be cut and pasted into state legislation] for the 3 vileRumorMongers and bankruptcy. That's right. Bankruptcy.

Growing up in the affluent nation's capital[not particularly affluent for anything it produced other than millions of lines of legislation and special interest wealth redistribution] i would often read of and hear first hand of affluent families and I mean WEALTHY names that would use Bankruptcy as a cost saving device and would often make preparations by moving assets into trusts or offshore(to be laundered back in again in time).

Now this isn't an argument for abolishing bankruptcy or even tightening it; I still think it is the only thing that makes this system Humane and actually meshes quite well with some concepts in judaism about the length of contracts.[on a tangent this made me think of the ohlone people that once inhabited the San Francisco bay area that owned no possessions and never spoke of the dead. if I remember correctly their culture lasted intact for over 2000 years before succumbing to colonial forces]

I'm going to have a good talk with my ll as i know deep down he is a good man and do the right thing in the end

This whole episode make inspired me to come up with my Top 10 Reasons NOT to move to San Francisco.

10. if you Love to use your car you're going to hate this city because
9. There is NO PARKING
8. Gas is more expensive than anywhere in North America except quebec
7. To get parking you have to rent an insanely overpriced apartment
6. which you are not going to be able to get any ways because no one ever moves out of the nice places
5. meaning you'll have to share a room with an eccentric who probably isn't eccentric in a particularity inspiring manner as otherwise you probably wouldn't have been able to
rent the room in the first place as the previous roomates would not have left because of reason 5
4. If you like sunny weather you'd better stay in socal
3. you will know where city tow is by heart after living here any length of time with a car
2. ah, can anyone say the Big One is going to hit any day?
1. EARTHQUAKES Dummy!

so please don't move here unless you've got a place set up already and don't evict anyone just to move here; it's Not Cool.

The housing administrator/manager doesn't care about Goodness as much as about Reliability. Someone who has a good credit rating is statistically proven to be a better prospect to pay bills than someone who has a bad credit rating. Isn't money all that matters in business? And if not, then let them eat cake. While that's not my viewpoint, in today's dealings, there's no penalty for being an *ss, but certainly financial benefits in treating things as numbers.
