Question on Half.com

I found something that I am interested in on half.com but I was just curious what others thought of the site. Is it just like ebay in the sense that I am paying some person that I do not know? Or does half.com act as a type of third party to hold the money and insure that everything gets to who its supposed to be? I just don't want to buy something on there and find out I have no recourse if the other person screws me over and takes my money and I don't get my item.
